CONTEXT OF JOB: 
 
The Assistant Director, Graphic Design and Creative Content within The Department of Athletics and Community & Campus Recreation (DACCR) at the University of Delaware is a valued member upholding and embracing the departmental mission of Achieving Excellence Together. Under general direction of the Director, Graphic Design and Creative Content, this individual is responsible for creating and designing all necessary creative content for the Delaware Football Program. This individual will serve as a key member of the external team, while also playing a pivotal role within the football program to drive creative content for recruiting, social media, and all gameday activations. The creation of print and digital promotional materials for football, and areas within DACCR as needed such as ticket sales and service, event presentation, event management, development and communications. This individual creates inspiring, innovative visuals that align with the University of Delaware brand while also appealing to new, and evolving audiences in the collegiate landscape. Materials developed should highlight a compelling and holistic view of Delaware student-athletes while representing the University brand appropriately, maintaining UD production standards, style and requirements, including print, web, video and photo in conformance with UD Brand Style Guide and in partnership with the Office of Marketing and Communications. All members of the External Relations team commit to exemplifying the values of DACCR. The External Relations team prioritizes collaboration and communication in order to achieve the highest levels of both efficiency and effectiveness
 
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: 
 
Football External Content Needs
  • Maintain and update a yearly visual identity for the Delaware Football Program.
  • Create and produce all graphic design content for Delaware Football social media channels.
  • In conjunction with the Associate Director, Creative video, and Associate Director, Communications and Creative Services/Social Media coordinator, ensure content distributed on Delaware Football social media channels is delivered in a timely and creative manner.
  • Attend practices, all games including road and postseason, and other team events as needed to capture photo and graphic content for external use.
  • In conjunction with Director, Marketing and Licensing, and Associate Director, Creative Video, create and all videoboard content for home Delaware Football games, including but not limited to motion graphics, still graphics, and other creative content activations.
  • Attend football external weekly pod meetings alongside football operations, marketing, communications, and ticket sales to help understand and develop creative content for revenue generating purposes.
Football Recruiting
  • Creative Content Under the direction of the Head Football Coach and Football Recruiting Coordinator, deliver consistent, and timely creative content for the purposes of football recruiting such as print material for recruiting visits and social media content for coach use. Attend staff meetings as determined by the coaching staff to understand vision, brand, and values of the program
  • Capture photo content during official recruiting visits as needed and assigned by the coaching staff.
  • Additional Athletic Department Support Fulfill requests from departments within athletics, such as Human Resources Development and athletic teams, as needed.
  • Under the direction of the Director, Graphic Design and Creative Content ensure consistent and appropriate logo usage and branding implementation across the department.
  • Support football gameday event management functions by providing templates for credentials, parking passes, event staff guides.
 
QUALIFICATIONS: 
 
  • Bachelors degree in fine arts, graphic design, art, or related field with two years of relevant experience, or equivalent education/experience.
  • Graphic design experience in the sports industry; college football experience preferred. Proficient in current reproduction techniques, materials, and graphic illustration tools.
  • Skilled in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom), and MS Office; knowledge of After Effects and Adobe Premiere Pro preferred.
  • Strong grasp of design principles, color theory, and typography.
  • Creative problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to produce motion, static, and multi-purpose graphic content.
  • Experience using Sony and/or Canon cameras for photography.
  • Ability to use various software to design, lay out, and finalize artwork.
  • Ability to prepare materials for print and coordinate with vendors.
  • Collaborative, deadline-driven, and detail-oriented with basic arithmetic skills.
  • Familiarity with emerging design technologies, branding, procurement, copyright, and business policies.
  • Ability to receive and constructively apply feedback.
  • Ability to multitask under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
 
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
 
Requires working nights and some weekends as scheduled. Requires travel for football games. Requires attending recruiting functions and off season events hosted by the Delaware Football Program. This position has a hybrid work schedule.
