Research Software Engineer Newark
In this Research Software Engineer (RSE) position, you will closely collaborate on innovative interdisciplinary research software projects across Departments of Computer & Information Sciences, Electrical & Computer Engineering, Political Science & International Relations, and Civil & Environmental Engineering. You will be part of a dynamic team of Research Software Engineers (RSE) that we are building for the newly funded NSF Award “Building a Computational and Data-Intensive Research Workforce & Network in the Mid-Atlantic Region” - an interdisciplinary science project that focuses on modernizing social, behavioral and economic sciences, finance along with coastal science applications. The project aims to leverage tools and techniques in High Performance Computing (HPC) Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML) and Data Science to advance the targeted domain sciences. The position provides an excellent chance for the RSE to split their time equally between enhancing their research software development skills and contributing to the establishment and the growth of the RSE program at UD in collaboration with partnering organizations. Assistant Professor (Tenure Track), Department of Philosophy Newark
The Department of Philosophy in the College of Arts and Sciences invites applications for the position of Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Philosophy. Areas of Specialization: Epistemology or philosophy of mind. Areas of Competence: Open, but the ideal candidate would have teaching competence in one or more of the following areas: logic, the philosophical implications of AI, or topics at the intersection of social/political philosophy and mind/epistemology/language (e.g., epistemic injustice, free speech, propaganda, social ontology). The successful candidate will be a dedicated teacher and have an existing or emerging record of strong scholarship, as well as a robust forward-looking research agenda. They will be joining an undergraduate-only department that prizes excellence in both teaching and research. The typical teaching load is five courses per year. In addition to standard introductory-level service teaching, the successful candidate will regularly teach philosophy of mind and/or theory of knowledge for philosophy and cognitive science students. Though not required, an interest in public philosophy would be an asset. Women and minority candidates are especially encouraged to apply.
