The Department of Women & Gender Studies, https://www.udel.edu/academics/colleges/cas/units/departments/women-gender-studies, in the College of Arts and Sciences seeks to hire an Assistant Professor (continuing track) whose intersectional teaching and research centers on Sexuality & Gender Studies with a focus on how American society and media generate and circulate cultural forms, practices, values that resist and reinforce normative and non-normative sexuality and gender roles. We seek applications from experienced educators who hold a PHD and have a demonstrated track record of college or university level teaching. Specifically, we seek candidates whose teaching is interdisciplinary yet grounded in American cultural studies, the humanities, and queer theory. Areas of desired teaching expertise include sexual geography and the intersection of sexuality and space, and the social ramifications of LGTBQ+ representation within contemporary and digital cultures. Successful candidates will demonstrate the drive and vision to develop innovative, cutting-edge instructional programs and will contribute directly to core courses in the Sexualities & Gender Studies minor while supporting the foundational Women & Gender Studies major requirements. A proven track record is needed of outstanding teaching experience at all levels and via all modes of instruction, including on-campus, blended, hybrid and fully digital. The candidate will be expected to support the departmental goals of attracting future majors, and cultivating non-traditional students enrolled in WGS coursework through programs such as the Associate in Arts Program and the Early College Credit Program. The Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures seeks a candidate for the position of Continuing Track Instructor or Assistant Professor of Spanish. The Instructor rank candidate must have an M.A. in Spanish or related field in hand by August 1, 2025. The Assistant Professor rank (preferred) candidate must hold a Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Spanish or related field by August 1, 2025. Candidates should have native or near-native fluency in both English and Spanish, a record of excellence in teaching with a minimum of two academic years of college-level teaching experience in Spanish as the instructor of record, and familiarity with communicative language instruction. The new hire will teach all levels of Spanish and demonstrate an interest in teaching and/or developing Spanish for Special Purposes, Translation, or Interpretation courses. An interest in directing study abroad programs and/or developing U.S. and international internships is desirable. Experience with course coordination and teaching online, flipped, and/or hybrid formats is preferred. The candidate should be able to work with students with diverse learning styles and backgrounds and demonstrate an interest in mentoring students. The primary responsibilities of this position are to teach and mentor undergraduate students in Cognitive Science and Speech-Language Pathology, and to participate in departmental and university-wide service.
