CONTEXT OF THE JOB:
This position works in what is, for the most part, a traditional medical practice or other business office environment. Under the general supervision, of the Clinic Director, the Central Scheduler performs scheduling, pre-registration, pre-authorization, benefits and administrative activities for our patients and ensures accurate collection of patient registration information. The incumbent for this position is expected to anticipate the needs and exceed the expectations of our patients and others that we serve.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Schedule patients for visits to UD in accordance with our policies and procedures.
- Obtain and input pre-registration and pre-authorization information into the Electronic Medical record system. This includes but is not limited to Demographic, benefits, authorizations and other pertinent data points.
- Ensure patients are aware of their upcoming appointment at the time of scheduling; assist patients with cancelling and rescheduling appointments.
- Collects copays or make patients aware of responsibility following benefits verification.
- Provide patients with any information pertaining to the visit and times to arrive and any programs available to the patient.
- Review visits prior to the day of to ensure all necessary information is on file.
- Anticipate potential needs and issues of internal and external customers. Proactively solicit customer feedback.
- Provide proactive, timely and effective responses to internal and external customer needs and requests.
- Model effective customer relations skills and behaviors.
- Identify and present opportunities for change and improvement.
- Communicate procedures to staff, colleagues, patients and/or visitors.
- Comply with all FPI policies and procedures.
- Comply with confidentiality policies and procedures.
- Develop collaborative relationships with internal customers to accomplish department and UD Health LLC goals.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED and two years’ experience in administrative or clerical positions in a health care setting, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to work with Microsoft Office Applications – Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both oral and written.
- Demonstrated knowledge of various insurance coverages.
- Ability to establish and maintain courteous and effective relationships that foster quality customer service and demonstrate sensitivity and awareness to customer needs.
- Resourcefulness and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to establish priorities and coordinate work activities.
- Demonstrated dependability in attendance, punctuality, and job performance.
- Possess positive attitudes regarding the work environment.

Special Requirements:
- Regularly required to sit, use hands, and utilize verbal communication/listening skills.
- Frequently required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.

- This position is unlikely to be exposed to blood borne pathogens.
