The Communication Sciences and Disorders Program at the University of Delaware is seeking candidate for a postdoctoral researcher position in a laboratory focused on the neurobiology of stuttering and other speech-language disorders (PI: Dr. Ho Ming Chow). This position is 100% research with an ample opportunity to develop teaching skill. The successful candidate will be trained to carry out advanced neuroimaging analyses on existing functional and structural data and develop new experiments using various neuroimaging and neuromodulation techniques (fMRI, DTI, simultaneous EEG-fMRI, tACS, fNIRS). Salary is competitive and is set by the University rules depending on level of training. Initial appointment is for one year with possible renewal contingent upon satisfactory performance and available funding. The position has a starting date of January 1, 2020. Review of applications will begin on November 1, 2019. The search will remain open until the position is filled.
Major responsibilities:
The successful candidate will work closely with the PI and his collaborators to perform the following duties: 1) collect and analyze human and animal neuroimaging (fMRI, DTI, T1 and EEG), 2) develop new techniques and pipelines for multimodal neuroimaging data, 3) assist in experimental design and implementation, 4) perform literature searches and report research findings, and 5) assist with training of undergraduate and graduate research assistants.
Required Qualifications 
  • Candidates must have a PhD in psychology, neuroscience, cognitive science, engineering, computer science, communication sciences and disorders, or a related field
  • Track record of publishing empirical research findings in peer-reviewed journals
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Some experience in programming and statistics 
Desired Qualifications 
  • Good familiarity with the published literature in the neural bases of speech motor control, language functions and brain development
  • Prior experience with functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) and neuroimaging data analysis software (SPM, AFNI, FSL, Freesurfer, MRtric, etc.)
  • Strong background in statistics, machine learning and data mining techniques
  • Proficient with MATLAB and Linux programming
  • Experience in handling mice and animal MRI
