Research Associate I - Birth and Endocrine Signaling (BES) lab Newark
The Birth and Endocrine Signaling (BES) lab is housed in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at the University of Delaware, Newark Delaware. The lab is headed by Dr. Will Kenkel, Principal Investigator (PI). Dr. Kenkel’s lab investigates how the development of social behavior is governed by the conditions of birth. His research focuses on the role of hormones important both to regulating social behavior and birth and to chart developmental outcomes he uses a variety of techniques, including: behavior, implantable radio-telemetry, tissue histology, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). This research is carried out in the prairie vole, a non-traditional laboratory species studied for its array of pro-social behaviors. The Research Associate I position will be an important part of supporting the science in the lab - and, depending on skill set, may have expanded opportunities to participate independently on research projects. The position will be funded via internal and/or external money awarded to the PI. The position is temporary and may be renewed on a 12-month basis, dependent upon available funding and performance. Ultimately, a 2-year commitment is strongly preferred.

The Center for Health Assessment Research and Translation (CHART) in the College of Health Sciences at the University of Delaware is seeking candidates for a research faculty/research scientist position. Successful candidates will play a major role in conducting outcomes-related research in a college-wide research center at the University of Delaware. The successful candidate will assume roles on currently funded grants related to (1) the development of new Quality-of-Life instruments targeted for individuals with neurological impairments and disabilities (e.g., rehabilitation populations); (2) development of self-management intervention tools to improve a wide range of symptoms following spinal cord injury (SCI), traumatic brain injury (TBI), and major extremity trauma and amputation; 3) use of outcomes measurement tools in program evaluation; (4) outcomes assessment in amputee and orthopedic medicine; (5) research designed to improve quality of life following SCI, TBI, traumatic amputation, or other traumatic injury; and (6) the development of new neuropsychological measures including the assessment of cognitive functioning.

Project Coordinator, Infant Caregiver Project Newark
The Infant Caregiver Project (ICP) is housed in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences. The project is funded by fees paid to ICP for the dissemination of the project’s evidence-based intervention, as well as NIMH R01 grants to Dr. Mary Dozier. ICP conducts basic and translational research with children and families. Specifically, our research focuses on Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-up (ABC), which helps caregivers provide nurturing care and engage in synchronous interactions with their children. In light of the evidence supporting the effectiveness of ABC, efforts have begun to disseminate the program at multiple sites across the nation and internationally. The Project Coordinator supports the dissemination of ABC under Dr. Caroline Roben, Principal Investigator.

As the primary diagnostician and an integral team member within the University of Delaware Poultry Health System (UDPHS), this position provides important services for the local Delmarva (Delaware, Maryland and Virginia), national and international poultry and allied industries by providing critical necropsy and diagnostic services related to avian health. Working closely with the Director of the Poultry Health System/Senior Scientist Poultry Virologist at the Charles C. Allen Laboratory and the Lasher Laboratory Manager, the Poultry Disease Diagnostician will also actively support applied industry research projects aimed at enhancing poultry health and assist with ongoing accreditation and quality assurance processes for this NAHLN/A2LA accredited laboratory. In addition, the successful candidate will communicate regularly with industry and state veterinarians and participate in local, national and international poultry health meetings. There are no supervisory responsibilities associated with this position at Lasher Lab as staff supervision is fulfilled by the Lasher Laboratory Manager. Opportunity for staff performance input will be requested during annual performance evaluation.

The Neunuebel Lab currently has an opening for a Research Associate I.The Neunuebel Lab housed in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at the University of Delaware, Newark Delaware, and we are affiliated with the Department of Biological Sciences and the Data Science Institute. The lab is headed by Dr. Joshua Neunuebel, Principal Investigator (PI). Dr. Neunuebel’s lab investigates how the nervous system processes and integrates social information that underlies innate behavior. His research team laid the groundwork for elucidating the neurobiology of social behavior by building a novel system for simultaneously recording neural, audio, and behavioral data from freely socializing mice, which requires high-performance computing and machine learning approaches to analyze. Moreover, the Neunuebel Lab uses behavioral, neurophysiological, and genetic approaches to unmask the neural encoding of social information.
