CONTEXT OF THE JOB:

Under the direction of the Vice Provost for Academic Programs and University Initiatives, the Analytics and Assessment Specialist will serve as a key member of the Provost’s Office staff and as a critical liaison with academic programs. The Specialist will provide operational support to unit leaders and the VPAPUI for the Academic Department and Program Reviews (ADPRs) and the New Program Incubator and Start-up Fund. They will work collaboratively with the Vice Provost and department and program leadership to implement analysis to support data driven decisions and assessment for operational excellence. The successful candidate will be expected to leverage data for and about colleges, department, and programs to drive effectiveness and demonstrate the value of each to the broader university community.

The Specialist will support the Vice Provost in the monitoring and assessment of academic units that include programmatic evaluation processes. Support of the development and monitoring of performance metrics and measurement will be a key activity of this role. The Specialist will develop positive and productive working relationships with other members of the Provost’s Office, the portfolio team of unit directors, and academic unit leadership.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Support Academic Department and Program Review (ADPR) processes including template implementation and improvements.

· Deliver the ADPR workshops with units undergoing their reviews.

· Support the New Program Incubator by implementing the market analyses, enrollment projections, and financial analyses.

· Provide monitoring of the start-up allocations and use.

· Perform project management roles for large initiatives, both in start-up and maintenance stages.

· Design and execute mission relevant projects.

· Learn and understand the university’s data systems.

· Become proficient in Tableau and data visualization for the delivery of data to senior administrators.

· Identify opportunities to provide greater value to the University community and ensure alignment with university goals and strategic plans.

· Identify process and substantive improvements to analytical processes managed by this role.

· Implement policies, processes, and procedures as related to the portfolio of the VPAPUI to ensure the strong stewardship of university resources.

· Cultivate and enhance a culture of value and performance, driven by data-informed decision making and operations, to drive effectiveness and demonstrate value.

· Perform other job-related responsibilities as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Master’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in an academic setting preferred.

· Experience analyzing and utilizing data to support decision making.

· Ability to achieve goals; develop, plan, and implement short- and long-term projects; formulate policy; organize resources.

· Ability to analyze problems and strategically develop and communicate creative solutions to complex issues.

· Ability to prioritize and concurrently manage multiple tasks and nimbly address shifting and competing demands.

· Demonstrated experience in front facing operations, communication, and collaboration.

· Excellent oral and written communication abilities.

· Ability to create and sustain an organizational culture focused on collaboration and creating value.

· Ability to understand University goals and assist in data analysis to illustrate goal attainment.

· Commitment to collaborative and growth mindsets.

· Skill in relating to diverse audiences such as faculty, university administration, and staff.
