Context of the Job:

The University of Delaware Center for Disabilities Studies (CDS) is the largest research and public service center in the College of Education and Human Development. It promotes the inclusion of individuals with disabilities in all aspects of society. The Center accomplishes this through education, service, information dissemination, and research. The Delaware Network for Excellence in Autism (DNEA), which is housed in the Health and Wellness Unit at CDS, helps the community stay informed by developing and distributing information and resources on issues that impact people with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), their families, and professionals who support this growing population of Delawareans. The DNEA engages in training, technical assistance, and information dissemination activities to promote the use of evidence-based practices in education, social services, healthcare, and vocational training. Through its partnership with Autism Delaware, the DNEA also connects families and individuals with autism to resources in the community. More information about the DNEA is available at

Under the direction of the Health and Wellness Unit Director and DNEA Director, the DNEA Program Coordinator will have day-to-day responsibility for coordinating all aspects of DNEA activities. The DNEA Program Coordinator will work out of our Sussex County office location in collaboration with the DNEA Director. The DNEA Program Coordinator will: (a) manage logistics related to training and technical assistance activities; (b) support the development and dissemination of informational materials; (c) assist with annual reporting efforts; (d) facilitate communication and quarterly meetings with network and community partners; and (e) organize and coordinate data collection efforts. This individual will also support the coordination of evaluation activities and, with Director support, contribute to ongoing quality improvement activities. This position requires sensitive and capable interaction and collaboration with multiple parties - including community partners and individuals with disabilities - a high degree of self-motivation, and a commitment to quality.


  • Coordinate program activities and serve as the day-to-day contact for community stakeholders.
  • Manage and coordinate logistics for project activities including trainings, information development and dissemination efforts, stakeholder meetings, and data collection and quality improvement efforts.
  • Establish and maintain systems for tracking agency partner activities related to autism and other developments in the Delaware autism community.
  • Support the development and dissemination of materials, trainings, and resources in collaboration with project staff, community partners, and the CDS Communications and Advocacy Unit.
  • Support the development and dissemination of scholarly presentations and publications.
  • Assist in the development of program summaries, Institutional Review Board (IRB) applications, and other proposals, as necessary.
  • Maintain awareness of evidence-based programs and services available to individuals with autism.
  • Coordinate the preparation and implementation of large stakeholder meetings.
  • Support the design and dissemination of accessible digital and paper content.
  • Perform most assignments independently with instructions as to the general results expected.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor's degree with three years of experience managing multifaceted projects in higher education and/or public health settings; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Degree in public health, social work, mental health, special education, or a related field.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities, preferably autism, or supporting projects related to individuals with autism.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; problem solving skills; and time management skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work successfully with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Ability to develop and maintain impeccable records.
  • Demonstrates an understanding and consideration of the differing needs and concerns of individuals with varying identities, cultures and backgrounds.
  • Committed to fostering a workplace culture of belonging, where diversity is celebrated and equity is a core value.
  • Experience with federal and/or state contracts/grants preferred.
  • Experience partnering with Delaware state agencies, councils, and/or disability organizations preferred.
  • Knowledge of best practices and common accommodations (e.g., CART, interpreters, open captioning) needed when hosting inclusive events preferred.

Special Requirements:

  • Must possess a valid driver's license for travel in the state of Delaware and have access to reliable private means of transportation.
