Tenure-Track Epidemiology Faculty Position
Program in Epidemiology
We seek a tenure-track faculty member specializing in epidemiology at the rank of assistant or associate professor to join an award-winning faculty at a time of growth and expansion for the University of Delaware’s College of Health Sciences. The preferred research focus should broadly involve the application of epidemiology methods to enhancing clinical and translational research that addresses disparities related to diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, or metabolic syndrome.
Primary responsibilities will include conducting nationally visible, externally funded research, teaching graduate courses in epidemiology and related areas, supervising graduate students, and university service. Candidates should have an earned Ph.D., Dr.P.H., or Sc.D. in epidemiology or a closely related field or an M.D. or D.V.M. with an M.P.H. from an accredited school of public health. At the assistant professor rank, candidates must demonstrate the potential for an externally fundable and nationally prominent line of research. All faculty are expected to contribute to a welcoming campus environment that embraces diversity.
GENERAL INFORMATION: The Program in Epidemiology was founded in 2018 and includes graduate students pursuing an M.P.H. in Epidemiology and a Ph.D. in Epidemiology. The Program provides an environment that supports and fosters the development of productive, high-quality, and interdisciplinary research.
Ranked fifth, nationally, among the best places to study the health professions by College Factual, the College of Health Sciences is a thriving academic unit of over 3,000 undergraduate and graduate students and 130 faculty with outstanding research and teaching facilities. The College has recently opened an exciting new 100,000 sq. ft. clinical research facility and occupies 7 floors in a 10-story tower that opened in Fall 2018. The College also includes the departments of Behavioral Health and Nutrition, Communication Sciences and Disorders, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Physical Therapy, and the School of Nursing. With annual research expenditures of approximately $26 million, the college currently houses a number of large, interdisciplinary grants with significant funding from the NIH and DoD. The college boasts strong research teams in the areas of neurological disorders, cardiovascular health, and other chronic disease conditions, as well as rehabilitation science and concussion. There are also numerous collaborative linkages with our clinical partners.

SALARY AND BENEFITS: Compensation packages are competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. Faculty at the University have regularly received annual cost-of-living and merit salary increases and the benefits package is one of the best in the nation. Relocation and start-up funds are available. Appointment date negotiable.
