The Department of Kinesiology and Applied Physiology invites nominations and applications for an Open Rank Continuing Track (11-month, non-tenured ) faculty position to serve as the Director of the Athletic Training program with a balanced teaching and administrative workload. The Program Director is responsible for teaching Athletic Training courses consistent with their expertise, maintaining compliance with CAATE standards along with annual reports and accreditation materials, mentoring Athletic Training students, conducting scholarship consistent with CAATE standards, recruitment of new students, and providing service to the Department, College, University, and Athletic Training profession. The Department has five Athletic Training faculty that teach in the undergraduate Sports Health and graduate Athletic Training program including a Clinical Education Coordinator. The Athletic Training program has a dedicated didactic and clinical laboratory teaching space with extensive modalities and rehabilitation equipment, a Gaumard patient simulator, and annual equipment/supplies budget. The program has an exceptional relationship with the clinical athletic trainers in Intercollegiate Athletics who serve as preceptors for the students and as adjunct faculty in the academic program, established student clinical sites in both local high schools and clinics, as well as a strong working relationship with both the Physical Therapy and Nursing programs. The position requirements include a Doctoral degree in a related field certification as an Athletic Trainer and eligible for licensure in the state of Delaware. Prior college-level teaching experience and Athletic Training administrative experience are required. Prior experience with CAATE accreditation standards, graduate level teaching, relevant clinical experience, and experience with student mentorship are preferred. All faculty are expected to contribute to a welcoming campus environment that embraces inclusivity.
