The Center for Disabilities Studies (CDS) is the largest research and public service center in the College of Education and Human Development. It promotes the inclusion of individuals with disabilities in all aspects of society. The Center accomplishes this through education, service, information dissemination, and research.

The Delaware Network for Excellence in Autism (DNEA), which is housed in the Health and Wellness Unit at CDS, helps the community stay informed by developing and distributing information and resources on issues that impact people with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), their families, and professionals who support this growing population of Delawareans. The DNEA engages in training, technical assistance, and information dissemination activities to promote the use of evidence-based practices with a focus on social services, healthcare, and vocational training settings. Through its partnership with Autism Delaware, the DNEA also connects families and individuals with autism to resources in the community. More information about the DNEA is available at Under the general direction of the Health and Wellness Unit Director and DNEA Director, the DNEA Implementation Coach will be a part of a growing team of grant-funded DNEA staff focused on providing training and technical assistance to professionals who support Delawareans with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).The Implementation Coach will have expertise to oversee training and technical assistance activities related to professionals who support individuals with autism in a variety of settings; the DNEA does not serve professionals affiliated with public or charter schools. The Implementation Coach will work closely with state agencies and organizations, such as the Delaware Department of Health and Social Services, Division of Public Health, Division of Vocational and Rehabilitative Services, and Autism Delaware. They will be responsible for developing and disseminating informational materials; developing and leading training activities; supporting the execution of activities related to DNEA workplans; and engaging in data collection efforts. This individual will also support evaluation activities and, with Director support, contribute to the ongoing quality improvement of program activities. This position requires sensitive and capable interaction and collaboration with multiple parties - including partner agencies and individuals with disabilities - a high degree of self-motivation, and a commitment to quality. The incumbent should have experience working directly with autistic individuals; knowledge of evidence-based practices for supporting people with autism; and an understanding of anti-ableist and neurodiversity-affirming practices.


· Design and implement workshops and trainings on autism and/or IDD and evidence-based/promising practices to a wide variety of organizations and stakeholders.
· Design and disseminate evidence-based resources (e.g., resource guides, evidence-based practice tutorials, PowerPoints, training videos or modules) to a wide variety of organizations and stakeholders.
· Use a range of modalities (e.g., face-to-face, on-line tools, virtual webinars) to deliver engaging professional development and provide guidance to professionals.
· Develop and use multiple data sources to assess participant needs and tailor professional development activities.
· Support the design and dissemination of fully accessible digital and paper resources on evidence-based and best practices.
· Provide in-person and distance coaching (via conference call/webinar) to individuals and small groups of professionals and others.
· Plan and regularly collaborate with stakeholders, community leaders, self-advocates, and family members.
· Prepare presentations for community and agency meetings and participate in related stakeholder meetings.
· Assist in the development of program summaries, Institutional Review Board (IRB) applications, and other proposals, as necessary.
· Perform most assignments independently with instructions as to the general results expected.
· Perform other job-related responsibilities as assigned.


· Bachelor’s degree in public health, social work, counseling or a related field and four years of job-related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Master's degree strongly preferred.
· Experience working with individuals with ASD and/or intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD).
· Demonstrated understanding of evidence-based practices used in supporting people with ASD.
· Knowledge of anti-ableist and neurodiversity affirming practices.
· Experience leading professional development activities.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office and training technology.
· Effective written and verbal communication skills.
· Demonstrates an understanding and consideration of the differing needs and concerns of individuals with varying identities, cultures, and backgrounds.
· Committed to fostering a workplace culture of belonging, where diversity is celebrated, and equity is a core value.
· Demonstrated expertise in ASD and/or I/DD and: (a) transition and post-secondary education; AND/OR (b) vocational training; AND/OR (c) adult services; AND/OR (d) other public health or social service areas that serve adolescents, young adults, and/or adults with ASD preferred.
· Knowledge inclusive practices, including how to (a) create accessible documents, (b) use plain language, and (c) arrange common accommodations (e.g., CART, interpreters, open captioning) preferred.
· Knowledge of Delaware adult services systems preferred.
· Experience with federal and/or state contracts/grants preferred.
· Experience partnering with Delaware state agencies, councils, and/or disability organizations preferred.

Special Qualifications:

· Ability to travel to clinics, hospitals, and other potential training audience sites throughout Delaware.
