Open Rank Faculty Hire in Solid State Materials

The Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Delaware is seeking a new faculty colleague in solid-state materials. This an open rank tenured/tenure track search and the level of appointment will be commensurate with the successful candidate’s experience. Areas of research interest include, but are not limited to, molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) growth, heterostructures, hybrid materials, and electronic, photonic, and quantum materials. Applicants are encouraged to describe how their expertise will complement existing departmental strengths and technical capabilities including two-dimensional materials characterization; III-V and chalcogenide materials growth, device fabrication, and optical characterization; metamaterials design, fabrication, and characterization; ab-initio solid-state materials theory; and emergent functionality in layered and heterogeneous materials. The successful candidate will join a collaborative community of researchers with access to staff-supported state-of-the-art research capabilities including nanofabrication, electron microscopy, and materials characterization facilities, an epitaxial materials growth facility, and several supercomputers. We seek creative and innovative individuals who have demonstrated excellence in research and who will engage in high-quality teaching and mentoring at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Candidates must have a PhD degree in materials science and engineering, physics, or a related discipline.  Applicants should submit a curriculum vita; a 3-6-page statement describing their research plans; a 1-2 page statement of experience and interests in teaching, mentoring, diversity, equity, and inclusion; and contact information for at least three references.
