Temporary Instructor or Assistant Professor of Spanish, COLLEGE OF ARTS AND SCIENCES
The Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures (https://www.dllc.udel.edu) in the College of Arts and Sciences seeks a Temporary Instructor or Assistant Professor of Spanish to teach Spanish language courses in our elementary Spanish language sequence. The ability to teach intermediate courses in Spanish language or culture is a plus. We are looking for creative individuals who are eager to work in a collaborative environment and who are high-quality teachers dedicated to incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion in their work.
The position is a terminal appointment that is renewable for up to 3 years, with a start date of August 16, 2023. It includes full benefits.
QUALIFICATIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate will have a PhD (for Assistant Professor) or MA (for Instructor) in Spanish Language, Literature, Linguistics, or Cultural Studies; native or near-native fluency in Spanish and English; and a minimum of one year of teaching experience as the instructor of record (with university level teaching experience preferred). Experience with or interest in directing study abroad programs is welcome.
The core responsibilities of this position (12 credits per semester or equivalent) involve teaching the introductory Spanish sequence as well as teaching at the intermediate level as necessary.
Candidates should be committed to high-quality instruction in a collaborative, communicative-based learning environment. They should be able to work with students with diverse learning styles and backgrounds. Candidates should also have experience with using technology to foster student learning. They should be willing to collaborate with colleagues to advance student outcomes. The candidate should be familiar with contemporary second language acquisition pedagogical methods, national and state standards, and intercultural competence.
