Context of job:
The Center for Research in Education and Social Policy (CRESP) within the College of Education and Human Development at the University of Delaware conducts rigorous research in education, health care, and human services. CRESP was awarded a $1.4M federal grant to identify the mechanisms through which Delaware’s local curricula and course offerings, statewide assessments, and feedback on predicted college-readiness might be better leveraged to influence students' educational trajectories through high school and into college. To conduct this multi-year study, CRESP is partnering with the Delaware Department of Education (DOE) to analyze longitudinal data for thousands of students enrolled in schools across the state and to explore how 8th grade Smarter Balanced Assessments scores, 11th grade SAT scores, and coursework through high school and into college relate to assessment feedback and support available during the secondary education years.

CRESP seeks to hire a Postdoctoral Researcher who will play a key role in the quantitative and mixed methods dimensions of the project, including data management, data analyses, and production of articles and reports.
Major responsibilities:
• Extract, clean, and analyze quantitative data
• Contribute to mixed methods data analysis
• Develop specific research questions related to project goals
• Conduct reviews of research literature related to research questions
• Develop analytic strategies for addressing methodological issues
• Write for academic and practitioner audiences
• Work closely with Principal Investigators, DOE partners, and other project staff
• Frequent travel to Dover, DE for work performed at the Delaware DOE offices
• Occasional travel for site visits and conference presentations
• Doctoral degree
• Quantitative and mixed methods training and experience
• Proficiency in statistical analysis platforms including SAS, SQL, and R
• Familiarity with regression discontinuity, time series analyses, and latent class models
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experience collaborating on a research study
• Experience working with education stakeholders as part of a research project
• Strong ethic and commitment to high-quality research
