Tenure-track Assistant Professor in Cardiovascular Physiology

We seek a tenure-track Assistant Professor to join our faculty at a time of growth and expansion. Candidates should have earned a doctorate in Physiology, Kinesiology, or related field, have post-doctoral experience, and a track record of published research. Successful teaching experience is preferred. Primary responsibilities will include conducting nationally visible, funded research in cardiovascular physiology, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in physiology and related areas, supervising master’s and Ph.D. students, and performing university service. Teaching workload will be appropriate for a research-focused position. Investigators who study vascular physiology/control of blood pressure using basic/preclinical approaches are particularly encouraged to apply (e.g., animal, in vitro, and/or cell culture models). All faculty are expected to contribute to a welcoming campus environment that embraces diversity.
GENERAL INFORMATION: The Department of Kinesiology and Applied Physiology is home to 700 undergraduate students, 59 graduate students, 26 faculty, as well as a PhD program in Applied Physiology. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to be part of the NIH funded Center of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE) in Cardiovascular Health that is housed within the department. NIH defined new investigators are eligible to be included in our renewal application with the potential to receive 3 years of funding for their research.
UD's College of Health Sciences (CHS) is an innovative, interdisciplinary college of more than 3,000 students and 150 faculty. CHS includes the School of Nursing and Departments of Behavioral Health and Nutrition, Communication Sciences and Disorders, Kinesiology and Applied Physiology, Medical and Molecular Sciences, Physical Therapy, and Epidemiology. CHS has teaching and research facilities throughout the campus, including the state-of-the-art UD Health Sciences Complex on the University’s Science Technology & Advanced Research (STAR) Campus. The first UD Health building at STAR opened in January 2014 and the Tower at STAR opened in Fall 2018; providing an additional 70,000 sq. ft. of research, meeting, collaboration and educational space. The Tower also includes simulation space and an adaptive living apartment. The Tower’s innovative spaces promote inter-professional education and training as well as research leading to the development of new devices, techniques and interventions. The STAR Campus fosters connections to the community, linking the community to the inter-professional training of our students and collaborative research between faculty and clinicians.
