Computer Engineer/Computer Scientist – Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering Gaithersburg
The College of Engineering is recruiting for a Computer Engineer/Computer Scientist in the UD Center for Neutron Science. The University of Delaware has won a competitive award of more than $7 million over a five-year period from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and will use it to develop the next generation of neutron scattering instrumentation through the creation of the UD Center for Neutron Science. Neutron scattering is a nanoscale measurement technique that is complementary to X-ray and light scattering as a means to probe the structure of materials. Since neutron scattering requires a high-flux neutron source, measurements are carried out at large national facilities such as the NIST Center for Neutron Research (NCNR) in Gaithersburg, MD. UD center staff will work on-site at the NCNR, helping design and build the next generation of neutron scattering instrumentation that will be used worldwide.

The University of Delaware Library, Museums and Press seeks an early career librarian with an interest in open education, open access, and publishing. Working closely with colleagues who advocate for open educational resources (OER) in the Library, Museums and Press and across the University, the Pauline A. Young Resident will have the opportunity to lead efforts to develop sustainable workflows around OER publishing. Interest in OER has been growing at the University of Delaware. The University’s Strategic Plan specifically mentions the need to expand the use of and access to OER to help reduce students’ costs. The Library also offers yearly grants to faculty to support the adoption of open and affordable course materials. We have supported dozens of projects across academic departments, and have saved students nearly half a million dollars in materials costs. We are excited to further support open publishing as a next step in this work
Temporary Assistant Professor, Department of Art History Newark/Hybrid
The Department of Art History in the College of Arts and Sciences is seeking to fill a Temporary Assistant Professor position in nineteenth- and twentieth-century art history, beginning August 16, 2023. We especially welcome candidates whose teaching focuses on the art of any region within Africa, South Asia, or South America. This position will complement our current teaching and scholarly depth in the early modern Iberian world, East Asia, and the Americas. The department encourages historical rigor, methodological pluralism, and interdisciplinary dialogue, and is committed to the core values of diversity, equity, and inclusion. The position involves teaching undergraduate courses at all levels of the curriculum, from introductory courses geared to non-majors to upper-level seminars. The teaching load is four in-person courses per semester, with the goal of two or three course preps per semester. This is a one-year position but may be renewed (depending on performance, funding, and departmental course needs) for a second year. Our Department is committed to providing quality undergraduate educational experiences within a research-focused Department. Successful candidates should ideally engage in evidence-based, inclusive, and reflective teaching practices. Candidates must have completed their Ph.D. by September 1, 2023. Under general direction of the Director, the Staff Physical Therapist is involved in direct patient care of patients in the University of Delaware Physical Therapy Clinic. The position of Staff Physical Therapist is an integral component of the physical therapy clinic and physical therapy department.
