CONTEXT OF THE JOB:

Under the general direction of the Principal Investigator, the Research Associate I will work on projects investigating learning and motivation in STEM and technology contexts. The position, funded by the National Science Foundation and the University of Delaware, provides an excellent platform for acquiring the skills necessary for eventual advanced level study.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan, coordinate, and conduct research within the guidelines set by the contracting agencies.
  • Design, perform, and/or oversee the data collection to ensure data integrity, quality control, and protocol compliance.
  • Assist with the preparation of reports, graphs, and manuscripts for publication and academic and external—facing conferences and workshops.
  • Collect data in schools, on campus, and community organizations.
  • Coordinate data collection schedules.
  • Communicate with school personnel and partners about data collection and findings.
  • Provide training to team members in data collection procedures.
  • Prepare research materials and activities.
  • Code and analyze data.
  • Assist with IRB processes with partners and the University of Delaware.
  • Work independently to meet time-sensitive deadlines.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related research activities as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree and two years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Degree in psychology, education, or related field preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of experimental procedures and data collection.
  • Ability to apply understanding of research methods and data collection protocols.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability and willingness to learn project management software and other software such as Trello, R, Stata, etc.
  • Interest in learning and education.
  • Experience working with children preferred.
  • Demonstrated understanding and consideration of the differing needs and concerns of individuals with varying identities, cultures, and backgrounds.

Special Requirements:

  • Requires travel for various events, training, and seminars.
  • Requires providing own transportation for position-related travel.
