Open Rank Faculty Hire in Soft Matter/Polymeric Materials
The Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Delaware is seeking a new faculty colleague in the area of soft matter/polymer research. This an open rank tenured/tenure track search and the level of appointment will be commensurate with the successful candidate’s experience. Areas of research interest include, but are not limited to, new materials design and synthesis, sustainability, organic electronics, bioinspired materials, biomaterials, engineered living materials/materials synthetic biology, composites/hybrid materials, polymer interfaces, and self-assembly. Both experimental and theoretical/computational expertise will be considered. Applicants are encouraged to describe how their expertise will complement existing departmental strengths. The successful candidate will join a collaborative community of researchers with access to staff-supported state-of-the-art research capabilities including materials characterization facilities, electron microscopy, nanofabrication, NMR/mass spectroscopy, bioimaging, and several supercomputers. We seek creative and innovative individuals who have demonstrated excellence in research and who will engage in high-quality teaching and mentoring at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Candidates must have a PhD degree in materials science and engineering, chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related discipline. Applicants should submit a curriculum vita; a 3-6-page statement describing their research plans; a 1-2 page statement of experience and interests in teaching, mentoring, diversity, equity, and inclusion; and contact information for at least three references.
