ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF SPANISH (TEMPORARY) - Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures
The Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures in the College of Arts & Sciences is seeking a temporary, non-tenure track Assistant Professor of Spanish to teach Intermediate to Advanced-level Spanish language and communication courses. The ideal candidate will have a PhD in hand in Spanish or in Spanish Applied Linguistics. Native or near-native fluency in Spanish and English and college-level teaching experience is required. The position is a terminal appointment that is renewable for up to 3 years. It includes full benefits.
Candidates should be committed to high-quality instruction in a collaborative, communicative-based learning environment. They should be able to work with students with diverse learning styles and backgrounds. Candidates should have experience with using technology to foster student learning and be willing to collaborate with colleagues to advance student outcomes. The candidate should have familiarity with contemporary language acquisition theories, as well as phonology, pragmatics, national and state standards, intercultural competence, and sociolinguistics. A willingness to direct study abroad programs is highly desirable.
The Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures at the University of Delaware (https://www.dllc.udel.edu) is within the College of Arts and Sciences. The Spanish program offers BA and MA degrees, with courses ranging from language and literature to culture and civilization, oral communication, film, Spanish for the sciences, and video games and Latin American culture.
