Context of the Job:

Under the guidance of the Assistant Director, Lerner Career Services, the Program Coordinator will assist in managing the Lerner-Delaware Early Career Program, collaborating with the Delaware Workforce Development Board, local employers, and students. This role will work in conjunction with the Assistant Director for Lerner Career Services to coordinate internships (including job shadow opportunities), facilitate communication between stakeholders, provide support and career coaching to undergraduate students, and help to ensure the program meets its objectives.

Please note this is a 2-year limited-term position dependent on the continuation of funding.

Major responsibilities:
  • Assist in the daily operations of the Lerner-Delaware Early Career Program, ensuring smooth execution and alignment with program goals.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of a strategic timeline and set goals for the program, driving its successful execution.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Delaware employers, the Delaware Workforce Development Board, and other key stakeholders to support program growth and effectiveness as well as increase internship and job shadow opportunities.
  • Collect and post internship opportunities, gather resumes, organize interview schedules, and supervise the matching process to ensure optimal placements.
  • Provide individualized career coaching to undergraduate students on professional development topics such as resume building, LinkedIn optimization, communication skills, interviewing techniques, and internship search strategies.
  • Offer continuous support to students throughout their internship experience, ensuring they receive meaningful experiential learning that enhances their academic studies.
  • Collect and analyze feedback from students and employers to identify areas for improvement and implement necessary changes for continuous program enhancement.
  • Provide logistics, maintain accurate records, and prepare reports on program outcomes and effectiveness to inform stakeholders and guide future program development.
 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Education, or a related field Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in program coordination, career services, human resources, or a related area. Experience in higher education or internship/co-op program management is a plus.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and experience with Salesforce a plus.
  • Knowledge of experiential learning and workforce development trends.
