CONTEXT OF THE JOB:

The Program Manager provides operational support to achieve the mission and vision of the Center for Simulation Innovation, Interdisciplinary Education, and Entrepreneurship (CSIIDEE) specific focus will be toward training support within the Healthcare Theatre program. Using industry best practice standards, the program manager will provide general oversight for simulated experiences using Healthcare Theatre and serving as a Healthcare Theatre representative during simulated training. This position manages all collaborative work between Healthcare Theatre designees and internal/external simulation facilitators on behalf of CSIIDEE adhering to the program’s Policies and Procedures. The incumbent serves as a liaison between the center and UD faculty, chairs, and Deans. This position includes participation in Master Class/Freezeframe simulations as facilitator/moderator. The Program Manager will report directly to the Healthcare Theatre Director.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the Healthcare Theatre Program Coordinator, miscellaneous wage employees and student interns to ensure day-to-day activities run smoothly.
  • Oversee for student interns including workshop development, scheduling, training and reviews.
  • Interview, onboard and train all new Healthcare Theatre employees and interns.
  • Evaluate programs performance metrics and identify development opportunities such as additional course accreditations, minor and workshop development, grant opportunities and outside contract opportunities.
  • Serve on the center’s Advisory Board to facilitate strategic initiatives.
  • Provide leadership with Healthcare Theatre workshop development and marketing.
  • Maintain the Healthcare Theatre shared drive and Master Calendar.
  • Manage the Healthcare Theatre Minor as the student advisor for enrollees.
  • Coordinate with faculty, staff, and students to monitor that student hours for course requirements are accurate and ensure simulation schedules, description, locations and disciplines are correct.
  • Manage the audition process for HLTH/THEA 215 to include scheduling, setting up space and coordinating with interested students.
  • Manage Course Canvas site to upload documents, communicate with Healthcare Theatre students and update assignments to facilitate grading.
  • Work closely with course faculty to ensure quality Healthcare Theatre performers and learning experiences for outside contracts.
  • Provide coaching / performance techniques to maintain quality performances in all simulations to make sure that patient portrayals are appropriate. Coordinates basic and advanced student peer mentoring.
  • Manage urgent simulation education matters in a timely manner which includes being available during nights and weekends as necessary.
  • Ensure high fidelity, authentic experiences are attained through character and scenario development, patient portrayal, and collaborative experience.
  • Serve as a guide and resource for demonstrating and touring IPE spaces and Healthcare Theatre presentations.
  • Lead effort within CSIIDEE to ensure simulation experiences needs are met.
  • Assist with developing, writing, and editing of articles and presentations highlighting program initiatives and accomplishments.
  • Create and maintain content on the website.
  • Manage all internal and external communications.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree and four years’ related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Degree in business administration or related field preferred.
  • Experience as a Simulated Participant Educator or Completed Healthcare Theatre and Adv. Healthcare Theatre courses preferred.
  • Experience in theatre arts and performing arts. Working knowledge in video and film preferred.
  • Independent program management experience (2+ years).
  • Experience with planning, developing, implementing, and customizing problem-based learning programs Independent program management experience (2+ years).
  • Willingness to learn scenario and simulation development.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills.
  • A working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite is preferred.
  • Highly motivated, able and willing to work independently and possess a strong work ethic.
  • Effective problem solving/critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact effectively and diplomatically with a wide range of individuals both within and outside the partnership.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently, and skill in organizing resources and establishing and adjusting priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work independently, anticipate issues and proactively seek resolutions.
  • Must have strong organizational skills/time management skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience managing people is preferred.
  • Demonstrates an understanding and consideration of the differing needs and concerns of individuals with varying identities, cultures and backgrounds.
