Continuing track appointments are not eligible for tenure. The candidate must have an earned PhD, DrPH., or ScD. in epidemiology or a closely related field or an MD or DVM with an MPH from an accredited school or program of public health. Primary responsibilities include teaching graduate courses in epidemiology methods and concentration areas; recruiting and mentoring graduate students; providing leadership to the MPH program including curriculum development and evaluation; and University service. Faculty candidates are expected to describe their approach to diversity, equity, and inclusion in their current and future work.

GENERAL INFORMATION: The Program in Epidemiology was founded in 2018 and includes graduate students pursuing an MPH in Epidemiology and a PhD in Epidemiology. The Program provides an environment that supports and fosters the development of productive, high-quality, and interdisciplinary research and instruction.

The College of Health Sciences (CHS) is an innovative, interdisciplinary college of more than 3,000 students and 150 faculty. CHS includes departments of Communication Sciences and Disorders, Kinesiology and Applied Physiology, Medical and Molecular Sciences, Physical Therapy, Epidemiology, and the School of Nursing. CHS has teaching and research facilities throughout the campus, including the state-of-the-art UD Health Sciences Complex on the University’s Science Technology & Advanced Research (STAR) Campus. The first UD building at STAR opened in January 2014 and the Tower at STAR opened in Fall 2018, providing 170,000 sq. ft. of research, meeting, collaboration, and educational space. The Tower also includes virtual reality simulation space and an adaptive living apartment complete with sensor technology. The Tower’s state-of-the-art spaces promote interprofessional education and training as well as research leading to the development of new devices, techniques, and interventions. The STAR Campus fosters connections to the community, linking the community to the inter-professional training of our students and collaborative research between faculty and clinicians.

With roots tracing back to 1743, the University of Delaware combines tradition and innovation, offering students a rich heritage along with the latest in instructional and research technology. The University is an Equal Opportunity Employer with diversity as one of its core values and, in that spirit, seeks a broad spectrum of candidates including women, minorities and people with disabilities. Located in scenic Newark, Delaware, within 2 hours of New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington, D.C., the University is a Land Grant, Sea Grant, Space Grant, and Carnegie Research University (with very high research activity, a designation accorded to fewer than 3% of degree-granting institutions in the U.S.), and with external funding exceeding $200 million. A state-assisted, privately governed institution, the University enrolls approximately 19,000 undergraduates and 4,000 graduate students.

SALARY AND BENEFITS:  Compensation packages are competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. Faculty at the University have regularly received annual cost-of-living and merit salary increases, and the benefits package is one of the best in the nation. Relocation funds are available.

TO APPLY: Review of applications will begin on September 30, 2022 and will continue until the position is filled. Nominations and expressions of interest will be held in confidence and references will be contacted only with the candidate’s permission.  Applicants should upload a letter of application, curriculum vitae, and contact information for three references. The letter of application and CV will be shared with the search committee.
