The Department of Africana Studies at the University of Delaware is seeking to fill a full time Temporary Assistant Professor (Instruction).


Ideal candidates should have a demonstrated ability to teach courses with a large enrollment, and will be expected to teach up to four core courses in our undergraduate program each semester. Applicants must be able to teach the second-half of the African American History Survey (African American History since the Civil War) and the Civil Rights Movement. Other course may include the Survey of African American Culture, Contemporary Issues in African American Culture, and Africana Studies Senior Seminar courses. Applicants must have a PhD in Africana/Black Studies, African American Studies or History, and have strong experience teaching courses in these fields. Applicants who are ABD will also be considered, but must have their PhD in hand by August 1, 2020.  More information on the department may be obtained at our website:


The start date is September 1, 2020. The position is for one year and is renewable for up to three years. Salary is competitive with benefits.
