Areas of Specialization: Epistemology or philosophy of mind. Areas of Competence: Open, but the ideal candidate would have teaching competence in one or more of the following areas: logic, the philosophical implications of AI, or topics at the intersection of social/political philosophy and mind/epistemology/language (e.g., epistemic injustice, free speech, propaganda, social ontology). The successful candidate will be a dedicated teacher and have an existing or emerging record of strong scholarship, as well as a robust forward-looking research agenda. They will be joining an undergraduate-only department that prizes excellence in both teaching and research. The typical teaching load is five courses per year. In addition to standard introductory-level service teaching, the successful candidate will regularly teach philosophy of mind and/or theory of knowledge for philosophy and cognitive science students. The new hire will teach all levels of Spanish and demonstrate an interest in teaching and/or developing Spanish for Special Purposes, Translation, or Interpretation courses. The University of Delaware’s Department of Physics and Astronomy seeks an Assistant Professor (tenure track) in the area of space physics, who would be initially supported by the NSF’s Faculty Development in geoSpace Science (FDSS) program. We seek creative and innovative individuals who are eager to work in a collaborative and interdisciplinary research environment and become leaders in their fields. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated background in heliophysics, space physics, or plasma physics, and a PhD degree and postdoctoral experience in physics or a related discipline. We seek a candidate with a strong background in space plasma physics observations, including magnetic reconnection, turbulence, and particle energization in the heliosphere. Of particular interest are candidates with expertise in analyzing global scale phenomena, dynamics at magnetohydrodynamic scales, and/or kinetic processes – especially using advanced methodologies (e.g., multi-spacecraft analysis). Current faculty are involved with multiple current/future in-situ missions (Wind, Parker Solar Probe, Solar Orbiter, and ACE), multi-spacecraft missions (MMS and HelioSwarm), remote-sensing missions (PUNCH and IMAP), and ground observatories (neutron monitors).
